Peregrine Panel Testing Logo…Comments Please

Here is a logo design I’m considering for The Peregrine Panel. Would love to get some feedback before I invest any more time and energy.  Let me know what you think.  Now, comments can be positive as well as negative!

      Hi Gregg,

To be honest, it looks a bit alien-ish. Flying right at the viewer isn’t the aesthetic I was expecting. Possibly flying at an angle, up up and away would be cool. Otherwise, making the bird a little less descriptive and making it more like a figure or shape that could be a bird, but is more of an abstract figure could be cool too.

      Hope this helps!

      Gregg,

I’m with James on this Gregg. I think a return to the original reasons for choosing the name ‘Peregrine Panel’ might be helpful to figure out what the logo should suggest.

We’re are looking for swiftness and responsiveness to come across. Maybe some of these images might spark a thought – http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=peregrine&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

Funny, I had two other options. One was more abstract but basically the same shape, but no detail. The other was one with wings up and back tail down. I like the idea of an Upward image, it might be subconsciously optimistic. Thanks for your comments JR!

      Gregg,

I quite like the clean lines, but think that something more abstract would work better. Also, I like the blue, but not the black borders, and details which look pixelated on my screen.

Also, for some odd reason, the basic shape of this one makes me think of a “unibrow”????! Dunno, maybe I am being silly!

      Regards
      Penny

I am with the two reviews above. There is definitely something off about that image. How about something more of a silhouette? I can try to come up with some samples if you’d like more suggestions.

Not too good, I’m sorry to report. Even though we shouldn’t be critiquing something that means to achieve an objective without knowing what that objective is, the logo doesn’t even enter the arena of simple, smart, clean, clear, concise, dynamic… and it’s redundant. It says “Peregrine” and it is, duh, a peregrine, I think.

I don’t know whom I’m insulting, but if you did it yourself, Gregg, get a designer. If a designer did it, don’t give him or her my address.

As a bit of a graphics man myself I know how ideas and artwork can appear right, even great, until you look at it with fresh eyes.

I’m not keen on this logo though I can see the graphical aims.

Does it have to be a bird. How about simply using the word ‘Peregrine’ graphically jazzed up to a minumum. The grab will be explaining what Peregrine is all about in the briefest possible description. Reputation will take over as soon as Peregrine has proved itself.

But what do I know? Maybe an image logo is needed but would even a dot be enough (coming to the point – taking a stack of media data and bringing it into focus)

Hi Gregg, I really think it has the basis to become a good, significant logo by working on the outlines only. Less is more in that case. Also beware of the proprotions. I mean between the body and the wings. Do the Typografie last.
