Random Notes on Innovation #1.

Today’s post features Random Notes. Bits and pieces not quite full blog post worthy, but worth telling (hopefully).

Random Note #1a. — Scott Anthony is at it again. The Innosight innovation maven has just released The Little Black Book of Innovation, how it works, how to do it. This is not a review — I’ve only gotten to page 53 — but I’m liking the tone. This is good stuff, and I’ll have more to say on this later, but am particularly looking forward to reading about the 28 day program he’s suggesting. Anthony wrote another innovation book that I reviewed awhile back The Innovator’s Guide to Growth. This new book would appear to be less academic and more practically oriented. More on the book in a later post.

Random Note #1b. — This week is World Creativity & Innovation Week, April 15-21. The tag line is “Creativity is in you, use it, Go!” I have to say I like the action orientation. In its 11th year now, it’s a low-key, grass-rootsy concept. People around the world are free to interpret the theme and event any way they like, and that’s pretty much what happens. Follow hastag #wciw on Twitter and you’ll get a sense of who’s doing things around the week. Kudos to Marci Segal for her on-going leadership in taking this week forward.

Random Note #1c. — The 10th annual CREA Conference (European Creativity Association) is taking place starting tomorrow (April 18th) in Sestri Levante, Italy. It’s a remarkable creativity conference in an amazing setting on the Italian Riveria. It’s a shame there isn’t some virtual component so we could all join in the fun, but then again it would be hard to virtualize good (exquisite) Italian food. The program leaders are a who’s who of international creativity experts. So, if you’re looking to enhance your creativity, hop a plane, then a train, and you’ll make it for opening day dinner.
